Luis A. Verduzco, M.D.
Luis A. Verduzco M.D. is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree with distinction from Yale University and then went on to medical school at Harvard, having graduated as an Arthur Lehman and LInnane Scholar. Dr Verduzco received his residency training at Stanford and was elected chief resident during his final year. He stayed at Stanford for critical care fellowship training. He is a former Academy of Achievement Student Delegate and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Training Fellow. Dr Verduzco has authored multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed manuscripts, with primary authorships in prestigious journals such as Stroke and Blood. He is an avid learner who practices evidence-based medicine and enjoys teaching.
Dr. Anam Tariq, DO, MHS
Dr. Anam Tariq is a board-certified Internist, completing her Nephrology fellowship this year at the Johns Hopkins and is concurrently completing a Masters in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for research on nutrition/metabolomics and cardiovascular disease in the kidney-disease populations. She is currently a clinical-researcher and educator. She wants to pursue an academic career and continue teaching. Dr. Tariq has always had a passion for service; in her teenage years she worked for the World Health Organization in refugee camps and clinics in Pakistan, focusing on primary care, vaccinations, nutrition and preventive medicine. She has also traveled to Honduras and Dominican Republic on medical relief trips, delivering medications to free health clinics, performing first aid, serving as first responder and teaching hygiene practices. Her volunteer work has been recognized nationally and she has been awarded Presidential award from George W. Bush for the recognition of devoted service through national organizations, such as the Veterans Affairs and the American Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Narmeen Baseer, DO
Dr Baseer is a Pediatrician currently practicing at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center as well as inpatient newborn and pediatric care in Hollister, CA. She attended medical school at Touro University in the Bay Area and then went on to do her residency at UCSF Fresno. She is especially interested in newborn care as this is a fragile and very special time in the lives of patients and parents.
Zeshaan Maan, M.D.
Dr. Zeshaan Maan is a Plastic Surgery Resident at Stanford University and recently completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Hagey Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Geoffrey Gurtner. He moved to the UK after graduating from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California and received his medical degree from King’s College London School of Medicine. During his Core Surgical Training, he also gained a master’s degree in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London, was inducted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, and published a medical education textbook. Dr. Maan has received a number of awards for his work. Because of his interest in entrepreneurship and medical education, Dr. Maan joined the DrBeen team.
Ahmed Zaafran, M.D.
Ahmed Zaafran, M.D, is a board certified anesthesiologist at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He trained at The University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine in anesthesiology prior to moving to Stanford University School of Medicine as faculty in 2012. In 2013, he completed his Certification in Entrepreneurship and Global Innovation through the Graduate School of Business (GSB) Stanford Ignite Program. He is a partner with Spire Ventures, an international network of life science experts who work with selected early stage companies to provide them strategic guidance and development support. He is currently the Director of Development for Stanford Medicine X-Middle East Region, and a team member of Stanford Healthcare Innovation.
Zaina Al-Mohtaseb, M.D.
Dr. Zaina Al-Mohtaseb is an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, external disease, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Al-Mohtaseb earned her medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine and was elected Chief Resident in her final year of training. She completed a fellowship in cornea/external disease, cataract & refractive surgery at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, FL. Dr. Al- Mohtaseb has authored numerous articles and textbook chapters and has presented her research at multiple national meetings.
